Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend in Sandbridge, Virginia. We got home this afternoon with two exhausted children who had the best time playing in the pool and sand with their grandparents and cousins! Highlights of the weekend included a trip to the Pungo Strawberry Festival and a boat cruise to the Baja!

We have a busy week ahead of us that involves my company picnic and a girls night so I am not doing a formal menu planner. I did run out to Trader Joe's today to get some of their dinner items. I purchased fresh (not frozen) Southwestern Stuffed Chicken Breasts that we ate for dinner tonight. They were delicious. I also purchased  fresh pesto tortellini and frozen mandarin orange chicken to be  served over rice. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

It's the little things....

Last weekend, we purchased this nozzle for our hose. I LOVE it! Previously, we had one that leaked water all over the place so we really  could  only go up from there but this sprayer is the best! It has 7 patterns and  works so well. What a steal for $6.97. Click here to purchase one for yourself.

I have been doing a lot of watering. Look at our garden now! We have our first tomato!

Here is our garden in April when we started.

And now at the end  of  May! It looks a mess but there is nothing I can do about it. The tomato plants are so tall.

Our first tomato!

We have been doing a ton of work in our yard and there is still so much to be done. Here is my flower garden near that patio that I re-planted this spring. Everything is growing so well this year.

Class and Trash

I recently visited Class and Trash on  Route 1 in Hanover, VA. I had Clyde on my hip so I don't feel like I got the full experience. I will definitely be back. Here are some pictures from my visit. I took them with my cell phone so excuse the quality.

Coffee Table $28. Loved the scale and side design. Thoght it would be cool painted.

Dish $6

Tons of Glassware

Kid's Chair $16

They even had toys! Clyde was interested but we left it in the store. $18

I liked the size and shape of these trays. Would be fun to paint a bright color.

View of the upstairs.
I could have spent hours there. It was lots of fun to look and the prices were good. Here is what I took home.
White Vase for $6.

Framed Painting for $15. Plan to use in Clyde's Big Boy Room.

Pinterest

Have you heard of Pinterest? I just discovered it myself. And instead of trying to describe it myself, I will quote the Pinterest website.....

"Think Pinterest as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can create collections of things you love and "follow" collections created by people with great taste.

People use Pinterest to collect and share all sorts of things -- wedding inspiration, favorite T-shirts, DJ equipment. You name it, people are pinning it."

Anyway...it is great. I often find pictures on websites that I want to save as inspiration and just bookmark it but then the favorites list gets so long and sometimes when I go back the link it doesn't work. This way it is all in one place and can be organized.

If you are already a member...follow me here. And if you want to be a member, they have a waiting list but it only take 2 or 3 days to get an invite.

Clyde is 2!

Clyde turned 2 on Sunday. He LOVES Mickey Mouse so it seemed the obvious choice for a party theme.

We keep the party on a small scale and invited only immediate family. I created these wheels and circles out of poster board from the dollar store. I used this as a table decoration and placed the serving trays on top.

I saw this picture on Hip Hip Hooray blog. And decided to do something similar with Mickey Mouse ears.

I cut, pasted and enlarged a bunch of pictures of Clyde in Microsoft Word then printed and cut out. I (well Michael helped) then made a template for the Mickey Mouse hats then traced  them on to black cardstock and cut.

I used the same template to create Mouse ears for the party hats.

I found these cute bowls at Marshalls. I also got a plate for the birthday boy to use.

I made really large paper flowers similar to the ones from Camille's birthday last year. I really wanted to hang them from the ceiling over the island but Michael didn't agree with tacking into the ceiling so we compromised with tacking them into the molding.

Kroger made this Mickey Mouse cake and it was so affordable at $17.99!

I found these Mickey Mouse shirts at Target. Here is a link to Camille's shirt.

I found most of the stuff for the goodie bag's at the Dollar Tree.  They have tons of Mickey Mouse loot.

I hand sewed this outfit for Mimi (Camille's lovie) and then Camille didn't want her to wear it.

So we re-purposed it as a beer coozie!

One of Clyde's favorite gifts was his lawn mower. He wanted to take it to bed with him on his birthday night.

It was finally time to sing and Clyde played shy on us!

And what he was most looking forward to all week was his CUPCAKES! Dig in!

It was a fun day! I can't believe he is 2!

Outdoor Artwork

I can always come up with another project! I just saw this picture in the Lowes Creative Ideas magazine. I may try to DIY something like this for either side of the windows below. Click here for instructions.

If we were going to live in this house forever, I would love to add a pergola like the one below to complete the outdoor living space.
